Rm 8 bike cycle

 On the 26 of May Room 8 went on the cycle ride for William Pike at Mananui and Hurunui Jacks. We had to be at school at 8:30 and when we made it to school we were placed into car groups and loaded our bikes up then we were off. I traveled in Craig’s car with Flynn and James.

When we arrived  at our destination we unloaded our bikes we prepared by putting our gear on; backpack, jackets.   We had to sort out who needed help with their gears.  We received  compasses and we had to find the compass bearing. Our first bearing was south east.

We went on the first track. I was biking with Kade, James, Kayden, Issac, Flynn, Noah and Luken. The first track was getting used to your gears. The track wasn't hard at all. The bad thing about the first track was that it was so cold and everyone's hands froze. We biked into a sunnier part and all of our hands defrosted. When we all stopped we had to get into our groups and we had to find the bearing with the compass again.

When we finished the way there we had to turn around and go back to the start. I think the way back was a lot easier. We then had to load all the bikes backup and we headed to the second cycle trail ride.

Our car group took the shortcut way and we arrived there a lot quicker. When we arrived at the second track we unloaded the bikes and we had a quick lunch break. We started the first part of the track. The track is super easy just because the trail is flat. Then we got to some hilly sections. The cycling  wasn't too hard because the trail was not as steep.

We cycled most of the way through and then there was a humongous hill that we had to bike up! Half of the people walked up the hill before

we left. We had to decide if we were going in the fast group or the slow group. After we finished the way there we had to find out who wanted to tap out and didn't want to go all the way back. After those people left we made our way back and it was a lot more fun because there was more downhill than uphill. At the end after we all finished we had packed our bikes away and then Ms Kemp had a talk about the day and she asked all the adults if they wanted to say anything and the adults said that they had an amazing day and they really enjoyed it.

My personal comment;

I really enjoyed the bike ride because it was really fun and it was a day of school.
